19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid season, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after March of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," said tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his first tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
